Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi, you know how some companies' email addresses on their website are not given but they have an 'email us' form to be filled in (- which usually defaults to the Microsoft email handling program in Windows, or to evolution in Ubuntu) and sometimes all one wants is the email address itself for later use, or to be used from yahoo, etc...? When I want to get this email address and click on the 'contact us by email' part of a website, all I want is for the form to open so that I can get that email address - but with the Ubuntu/Firefox, Evolution tries to open its setup automatically (- and I really don't want to give it mail information as I don't want it to handle my email at all at the moment - I use yahoo directly). It appears that without setting up Evolution I will never be able to see that address. Please can you make it so that either evolution does not open except to a basic default level such that the email address (on a blank email form) can be seen, and/or with no necessity to enter my email details or have it handle my emails?

What I can say is that Windows has never been set up to handle my emails but when running WIndows I can get that form (with the email address) on screen, copy that address, and immediately close the form with no more ado - then use it at leisure or copy and paste it into yahoo.

At present in Ubuntu I don't see a way I can obtain such an email address without setting up/using Evolution - and that is not desirable.

Many thanks, Jules

Pedro - thanks for the reply, but it's not a difficulty but an issue with the way Ubuntu handles processes - if Microsoft can do it better, then Ubuntu will be shooting itself in the foot which would be a real shame after so much work has gone into it: I have tried to move over to Ubuntu but find that there are still obstacles if one is a serious user (as opposed to soemone who enjoys messing around with computers and getting round 'difficulties'). There are many areas of Ubuntu where M/S just has a better 'feel' about their software and things are better thought through - compare Apple's user friendliness with M/S's - to get an idea of the difference I'm writing about. Cheers, Julian
