I have a couple of USB devices with LEDs that indicate that they are powered and blink to indicate data transfer. The expected behaviour is for the LED to be turned off when the devices are unmounted (as they are when under Windows they are unmounted by asking to safely remove device from the taskbar icon). Under Linux, the LED indicates that the device is powered, and flashes when data is transferred, but does not turn off after the drive is unmounted. To avoid a user losing data through physically removing the device before delayed writes have occurred, it would be useful for consistency's sake to turn off the LED on unmounting (and conversely, turn it on when the device is mounted). For interest's sake, the devices I have are a SanDisk Cruzer USB flash drive and a Lexar CompactFlash card reader.

I support this suggestion as users are used this from windows.
After unmounting the lights a USB stick/HD are turned off.
This can also certify that removing the device is safe from this moment.
