No progress dot during boot

Ubuntu Desktop

There is no progress dots anymore during boot. Instead there is a purple screen for a while, then a flash, the Ubuntu logo with fixed white dots and finally the login screen.

I think that we simply made plymouth better at deactivating, and so this is "not a bug" - the system is booting up fast enough that plymouth is not needed.

Presumably if you add "ExecStartPre=/bin/sleep 5" to gdm.service you see the dots.
