Hard freeze when starting Firefox

Bug Description

Hi!

There are various bug reports about Firefox freezing the system but I was unable to find one that talks about hard freeze when STARTING Firefox. And that's what happening for me -- it's enought that Firefox is launched and the whole system hard freezes. There's no FF window shown, everything just freezes.

Epiphany works fine, so does Konqueror, Dillo etc.

It started to happen after upgrade from Feisty to Gutsy.

My hardware is Fujitsu-Siemens AmiloPro V3505 laptop running 2.6.22-14-generic SMP kernel.

I'll be happy to provide any additional info.

I don't know if it's relevant but Gutsy on my laptop is freezing left and right. Everything was fine with Feisty. Other bug reports I filed about freeze issues are #179813 and #179817.

Can you try something just to make sure it's not add-ons causing the hard freeze if you have any add ons installed of course

Start Firefox in safe mode by doing the following
firefox -safe-mode

Good point Matt, thanks! Indeed, it was _some_ extension or skin (not a plugin) that was causing system freezes. I just moved bookmarks from the old .mozilla directory to a new one and am happy. If you want me to pursue the problem further please shout :)

Since it's not a bug dealing with firefox itself but a third party add on that caused the issue.
