Bug Description

Binary package hint: konqueror

When I try to click on a folder in Konqueror, I get the message: “There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with inode/directory, but it cannot handle this file type.”

Steps to reproduce: install konqueror in ubuntu gutsy, add network place (ssh), click on a folder to open it.

I followed the instructions here to resolve the problem:
http://docs.kde.org/development/en/kdebase/faq/filemanager.html#id2555992

####
You need to make sure that the embedding settings for inode/directory are correct:

   1. In Konqueror, go to Settings->Configure Konqueror and then to the File Associations page.
   2. Open inode->directory in the tree view.
   3. Click on the Embedding tab. Make sure that Left Click Action is set to Show file in embedded viewer, and by default Icon View (konq_iconview) is at the top of Services Preference Order.
####

But this setting should be in there by default. Nobody should have to try to figure this out ever again :)

That's... a strange one.
Does this only happen with remote (SSH) directories? You mentioned adding a network place, but it's unclear what folder you are trying to open.
Is this just konqueror installed on Ubuntu/Gnome?
Also, can you test if you still have this issue on the Hardy release?

Yes, it was with a remote SSH directory, and it was Konqueror
installed on Ubuntu Gnome (I assume the KDE one works fine, and that
the reason this bug was in there is because way fewer people use
Konqueror on Ubuntu Gnome)

It was a while ago that this happened, and I don't have access to
hardy at the moment, so no, I can't test. Sorry.
