Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

I detected something very annoying yesterday. After login into gdm, and after the system started new processes, i suddenly noticed that screen got black and then I saw the GDM login screen again. Then I had to put the username and retype my password, and then the same problem again. So I thought that the only way to stop this loop was killing X and then I had to disable Compiz at startup. So everything was ok, but then again the same problem when I used a program that I run with Wine, it breaks, and I got the GDM login screen again. I think that if a program breaks there is no reason for this with GDM to happen.

looks like xorg crashing, not a gdm bug anyway

You don't seem to have all needed packages installed, probably you are lacking the latest linux-restricted-modules-generic.

Please also attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

You are right. After installing latest linux-restricted-modules-generic everything is ok.

Playing openarena no problem occurs until game over when a message in black screen appears "press any key to return" but at this point no commands are accepted to return to desktop area. Ctrl+alt+backspace is the only one possible to use and restart login but mouseemu in touchpad is disabled. If I attach an external mouse I can mode cursor. Sometimes when you press ctrl+alt+del display return with a black screen and mouse cursor frozen in the middle of the screen.
