Bug Description

Binary package hint: k3b

When creating a CD-Audio, k3b does not write CD-Text data to the CD even if that option was selected and information was provided. In Project | Properties | CD-Text, I filled in both Title and Performer. And in the project tab on the main window, I filled in Artist and Title for each track.

The images created by k3b contain *.inf files for each track. None of these files contain the expected information. All fields are empty as follows:

# Cdrecord-Inf-File written by K3b 1.0.3, Fri Jan 11 13:19:01 2008
#
ISRC=
MCN=
Albumperformer= ''
Albumtitle= ''

Songwriter= ''
Composer= ''
Arranger= ''
Message= ''
Tracktitle= ''
Tracknumber= 16
Trackstart= 290233
# Tracklength: 00:01:26
Tracklength= 101, 0
Pre-emphasis= no
Channels= 2
Copy_permitted= yes
Endianess= little
Index= 0
Index0= -1

Hope that helps
Philippe

Same/similar problem here!

... I used 'normalize audio' and thought that could be the reason. CD-Text is not on the burnt CD!

k3b:
  installierte Version: 1.0.5-1ubuntu6

Bug still present on 9.10 Karmic, package k3b_1.68.0~alpha3-0ubuntu1_amd64

I watched the temp directory during creation: the .inf files weren't created until after normalization. So it's quite possible that the data isn't being copied correctly from the project at that point.

Also, after completing my first project, I could no longer edit the album CD-text. The fields were focused, with a blinking cursor, but accepted no input. (Although that is probably a separate, unrelated bug.)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I confirm this bug happens in Kubuntu 10.04 fully upgraded.
I do not use normalize as users above.

Ok, forget my previous comment: k3b does write cd-text correctly, but all Linux cd players I have tried cannot read cd-text and rely just on the online CDDB.
