Ubuntu can't mount open DVDs with more than one session recorded

Bug Description

After burning a multisession CD or DVD and leaving it "open" - so as to be able to burn another session later - Ubuntu is not able to mount the resulting disc. Exception: there is only one session recorded, or the disc is marked as closed, or finalized.

Not a big issue, because I always close the disc after recording the last session - but still! Shouldn't happen.

Many thanks,

Vlad

I have the same problem using Brasero.

@vvladut
Are you using brasero too?

After burning even one session only leaving dvd opened, it tells me there is no media in drive.
I think is a really big bug...

No, I'm using Nero for Linux, so I don't think it's in either Brasero or Nero, it's somewhere deeper.

What can I say, compared to other bugs Ubuntu has, this is nothing...

The problem now is to understand i which packet could be the problem.
On the bug title you wrote you have the problem with MORE than one
session recorded, but I have it also with one session recorded
(leaving dvd opened).

I also found out that if I previously erase dvd completely (not in
fast way mode) everything works fine.
Have you tried it?

I remember that having ONE open session worked for me, but I will try to replicate the bug again at home (i'm at work with no Ubuntu :( )

I only record read-only dvd's, which are of course completely erased to start with, so it doesn't only happen with dvd-rw's.

Again, I don't think it's related to the particular program used for dvd burning. I think it has to do with other inner parts of Ubuntu, which sadly I don't know anything about - I'm just a newbie...
