cannot create files or folders in dolphin-kde4 or konqueror-kde4

Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdebase-kde4
When I right click in dolphin-kde4 or konqueror-kde4 and select "Create New" the only option I'm given is "Link to Device". I am not given an option to create a new file or folder. The create a "Link to Device" option, although its there, doesn't work either. I've also tried using the file drop down menu with the same results.

BTW, I'm using Kubuntu 7.10 on a custom built AMD 64 3200Mhz system with an nVidia GeForce 7800 GPU and 1GB DDR2 RAM.
