I keep haveing intermitant video problems; I'm running a GeForce FX5700, I uninstalled the Navidia drivers and that helped a lot, but still have too many mouse skipping and video freezing problems. Is there a fix or do I need to get a new video card?

Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-panel
At first I just couldn't run some video formats, still cant run some of those (says it is a security issue and I'm cool with that) but when I tried downloading and installing the navidia driver for my card it freaked, the driver never installed, but Ubuntu found my old driver and switched to 600x800 and wouldn't let me change it back. I beat that problem, but now I have intermitant freeze-ups and mouse issues where the cursor jump around and everything works like Capitan Kirk talks; you know hit..and miss..a few... words at a time.
I am new to Linux, and this is my first post of any kind, please help if you can and thank you for reading this.
