Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

OpenOffice crashes when you open and then close attached file: crash-on-close.ods

Steps to reproduce the crash from scratch:
1. Start OOCalc -> new empty workbook is displayed
2. To A1 cell write "Mrazík" and press Enter
3. Save the file.
4. Close the file.
5. Open this file again.
6. Close it again.

Another case is the second attached file: crash-immediately.ods
It crashes immediately after I open it.

The crash happens in OO.o 2.3.0 in Gutsy.
It does not crash in OO.o 2.2.0 in Feisty.

Confirmed.
I'm using Korean OOo in Gutsy.
When I opened second file, OOo started recovery procedure.
But after it finished, same procedure restarted.
It looks like never ending story.

It crashes in Hardy Alpha 2 too.

The strange thing is if I replace "Mrazík" with "Marzík" it does not crash.

It also does not crash when I type only "Mrazí", "razík" or "Mrazíka" and "NeMrazík".
It seems to be also case sensitive - no crash for "mrazík".

According to upstream bug comment, it seems to be Ubuntu specific problem.

Confirming that the problem is not present in upstream build http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OpenOffice.org&os=linuxinteldeb&lang=en-US&version=2.3.1

Upstream bugreport is already closed as WORKSFORME, because it is Ubuntu specific problem.

I can reproduce this problem on Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy). However the good news is that this bug appears to be fixed in Ubuntu Hardy (8.04).

Thanks,

Chris Cheney
