konqueror-kde4 insists on opening links with Kate instead of itself

Binary package hint: kdebase

Konqueror-kde4 wants to open every link with kate by default. For some reason, default handling application for Mimetype text/html was set to kate instead of konqueror-kde4.

This bug is easily solved, however, changing the default order in "file associations", but it has to be known by the user...

I'm using KDE4 konqueror installed in Gutsy following the guidelines in http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-4.0.php

I can not confirm this issue at all and never have been able to. Have you by chance tweaked anything that may have caused it? Does it behave this way with every link, or are there just a few links in which occurs? Thanks.

I was using KDE3 from kubuntu packages (kubuntu Gutsy), and obviously links were opened by konqueror itself, as usual. This started to malfunction when I installed KDE4 following the instructions linked above.

I don't know if these kde4 packages were directly responsible for this behavior, but I don't remember tweaking anything in the configuration, so I assumed they were.

In any case, the fix is simple enough to not deserve further attention.

Thank you Orestes for the quick response, I really appreciate it. For the time being I am going to go ahead and close this report and if you come across this please reopen this report and we can see what the problem may be. On a fresh install of KDE 3 from both Gutsy and Hardy, and then installing the KDE 4 packages, I am not seeing this. Very well could have been a hiccup when you experienced this. Now that I look at the date of this report, I want to say I did see some similar things with Konqueror not only in KDE 3, but mainly in KDE 4 with the way some of the settings were configured. I am not getting them now, so there is a possibility this was fixed with the 4.0.2 release. Thanks again for this report!
