Bug Description
On my laptop: 'Toshiba A205-4577' driver: 'snd-hda-intel' codec: 'Realtek ALC268' the volume knob seems to control the built-in speakers 'Front' instead of the main 'PCM' slider which means it is not able to control the volume of headphones. I think this is a bug but I am not certain if it belongs to alsa-driver or something else. You may need more information than I have provided, whatever details you need just ask. :-)
Also plugging in headphones does not automatically mute the built-in speakers which is probably a bug as well but I can live with that for now. If it bugs me too much I can try hacking the driver to make it work properly.
Thanks,
Chris Cheney (calc)

Update to/install the alsa-source binary package from today, install module-assistant and debconf-utils, and use "sudo m-a clean,a-i alsa-source". Afterward, you may need to log out of the X session, switch to another tty and log in, and use "sudo /sbin/alsa force-reload".
