Bug Description

The Creative Xmod's volume knob only works properly when the Xmod is not set to the default mixer track. When the Xmod is set to the default mixer track the volume knob is random and I cannot raise/lower the volume properly.

In Ubuntu 8.04, pulseaudio is used as the default audio layer. Can you please test whether this error still occurs in Ubuntu 8.04?

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

Actually, I finally found that the volume knob only controls the audio line out, not the whole system. Thanks Creative for giving us a useless feature...

Same behavior on Win XP SP3 (no volume control with knob).

No. Actually I don't know what you are doing wrong zak317, but the creative xmod works fine for me to control the whole system volume in both xp sp3 and vista sp1. I have formatted my Ubuntu partition last year, see that post was made in 2008. If I get around to installing Ubuntu again I'll update this report with my new findings. I am sorry I have nothing to report at the moment. But I couldn't let zak317 get away with blaming the hardware, it is not the problem.
