Bug Description
Lenovo N300 laptop. On bootup, brightness is maximum. After bootup, if I reduce the brightness, it is in vain; a few seconds later, it resets to maximum. So far, I have found only one way to temporarily reduce the brighness: press the reduce brightness key-combination (fn key plus one of the keys along the top row, marked as such in orange). This is the only method I have ever used to reduce the brightness on this computer; before I "upgraded" to 7.10, this method worked.

The laptop exhibits this behavior while plugged in to power. I have not yet tried it on battery power.
