installer does not detect existing partitions

Bug Description

I've tried Ubuntu 7.10 live cd and decided to install it. The problem is that installer (graphic mode) does not detect existing partitions (manual partitioning) and suggest to use the whole hdd (SATA) or create new partitions map manually. GpartEd shows that hdd is empty and failes after refreshing devices with "send bug report" suggestion. WinXP boots without any problems, partiotions were created using Acronis PartitionExpert.

I'd like to clear out that bug and do what i can. So what should i do? (of course, hdd formatting is not suitable solution)
