Bug Description
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
I am running OpenOffice Writer (vers 2.3.0) on a Toshiba A105-S2021 and I am trying to set the tabs for a paragraph in between numbered paragraphs. When I left click my mouse over the button and start moving one of two tab guides a vertical line that serves as a visual aid for lining up the different lines in the paragraphs starts running right along, following the tab centerline (just as it is meant to). The problem is that they stay on screen and don't erase - even when I release the left mouse button (not always but more than 60 % of the time). The only way I can get rid of them is by scrolling up or down the page or closing and rerunning Writer. The document is formatted as a Microsoft 97/2000/XP document.
This seems to be a problem with refreshing of the display. Is this caused by some file associated bug? (I am having a tough time reproducing it). Any suggestions on how to minimize this problem?

I can't reproduce this problem with openoffice 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3 in gutsy-updates or with 1:2.3.1-3ubuntu3 in hardy either. Can you try updating to the version in gutsy-updates (if you haven't already) and let me know how that goes?
Thanks,
Chris Cheney
