Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity-frontend-kde

Hello,

This is my first bug report, so please bear with me if I do not do this perfectly. I am excited to be able to help in some small way.

I downloaded and installed Kubuntu Hardy Alpha 4. The installation was painless until it finished. The smaller installer box dissappears quickly, with no feedback letting the user know if installation was successful or not, or what to do next. This just left the larger Ubiquity box, still shown open on the last step.

I waited for several minutes for further feedback, but none was forthcoming. So, I rebooted. Thankfully, the installation had completed without any problems, and Hardy is running great.

But this was a very confusing point. It's certainly not a show-stopper, but could be confusing even to a seasoned vet, and could induce fear into a new user, not knowing what to do at that moment with no feedback as to wether the installation was successful, and what to do next (reboot, continue using liveCD, etc...)

Otherwise, Hardy is wonderfully stable, and thank you for your continued hard work!

My system specs are as follows:

Asrock 775DUAL-VSTA motherboard
Intel E2140 processor
2 GB Kingston single-channel DDR2 RAM
Nvidia GeForceFX5500 AGP

Again, thank you!

4 re-installs over the last couple of days.

I cannot get this bug to re-produce.

Methinks it was simply a one-off, but obviously hard to replicate as it requires a re-install to test ;)

I'd consider this one closed ;)
