Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

I am using Epiphany 2.21.90 in Hardy, and entering a username and password in a webpage does not trigger the "do you want epiphany to remember this password" dialogue anymore.

It happens in a clean install, too, and with a new user.

This bug is NOT a duplicate of bug #180205.

I am experiencing the same behavior on Hardy beta using those packages version:

epiphany-browser 2.22.0-0ubuntu5
epiphany-browser-data 2.22.0-0ubuntu5
epiphany-extensions 2.22.0-0ubuntu1
epiphany-gecko 2.22.0-0ubuntu5

there is no need to use this tone, you will not get people to reply to your comment this way, most of the done work there is done for free by volunteer who work to improve softwares you are using

I didn't want to use a tone, I just wanted to emphasis the fact that it was incorrectly mark as a dup. I guess I should have use another way of doing this, sorry.

I tried to find a way to "unmark this bug as a duplicate" without success. Is there a way to do so or is there someone who can do it for me ?

This bug is preventing me from replacing firefox with Epiphany since I can't possibly remember all my random passwords.

By the way, I do appreciate all the good work everyone is doing here (especially you, Sebastien). I do volunteer myself mostly by helping users here on Launchpad and in real life.

a normal comment is enough to state something usually, and you can use the mark as duplicate item and delete the number to unduplicate the bug, the description is not really clear though, the dialog asking for the username and password has a checkbox to store the password, isn't that enough?

Storing passwords for sites that ask for authentication using a popup windows still works.

But many sites (almost all of those that I use) ask for password using a web form. It those cases, epiphany doesn't ask if I want to save the password like it use to.

This problem seems to have returned since the switch to WebKit (in Karmic). Form-based passwords no longer prompt for saving, nor are they saved. So far the only passwords that I can save with Epiphany are through HTTP Basic authentication.
