Screen brightness is lowered although set to not in gnome preferences (HP Compaq 6710b)

Bug Description

In gnome-power-preferences I've se the screen to not dim when on battery power and I've also unchecked dim while inactive still the screen is dimmed to the lowest possible setting when on battery power or while inactive.

I'm using a HP Compaq 6710b laptop.
