Bug Description
(08:04:33 AM) CarlFK: shouldn't there be a libusb meta package that points to the current version of http://
(08:08:16 AM) rexbron: CarlFK, it would be better to do it via a Provides: field in debian/controls

Is this still valid? Are there any packages that depends on "libusb"? I think they have all been fixed to depend on libusb-0.1-4.
Also, libusb-1.0 is not compatible with the 0.x versions so it can not provide their functionality. There is an upstream libusb-compat wrapper around 1.0 which gives 0.x compatibility but it is not included in Debian or Ubuntu (yet).
