Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

The name of the volumes you can see in Computer (Floppy Drive, CD-RW Drive and so on) appears untranslated in my Spanish desktop.

However, the translations is fully completed in Launchpad:

https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/hardy/+source/hal/+pots/hal/es/+translate

And the translations are into the .mo file. See, for example:

ricardo@yuggoth:~ $ strings -eS /usr/share/locale-langpack/es/LC_MESSAGES/hal.mo |grep Floppy
External Floppy Drive
Floppy Drive
ricardo@yuggoth:~ $ strings -eS /usr/share/locale-langpack/es/LC_MESSAGES/hal.mo |grep Disquetera
Disquetera externa
Disquetera

Among others, you can see the following untranslated strings:

- Computer
- %s Media
- %s Drive
- Floppy
- Floppy Drive
- Filesystem

I attach an screenshot to illustrate the problem.

Screenshot of the problem. All the English strings should be in Spanish.

No need to open several tasks before knowing where the issue is exactly

Changed in hal:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Invalid

That seems to be due to the fact that gvfs translations are stripped at build and there is no language pack yet including those, that's not really a bug, having new language packs would be nice though, subscribing carlos and martin about that, they likely know when will be the next update

Changed in gvfs:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Invalid

Hardy language packs are updated twice per week automaticaly.

The problem in this case is that gvfs.pot file was not approved/imported. I just approved it, so next language pack update (on Wednesday-Thursday) should include it.

Cheers.

Thanks for the quick fix Carlos, is there an easy way to figure what translations are blocked on approval like this one?

Yes, filtering by .pot file at https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+imports

We just ended a development cycle so we will have more time to go thru that list and approve/reject what is left.
