Bug Description

Binary package hint: language-support-writing-en

This package depends on a load of openoffice.org packages that I have no interest in having installed. Saying as this package depends on them, it's impossible to remove them.

language-support-translations-en:
mozilla-firefox-locale-en-gb (I don't have firefox installed)
openoffice.org-help-en-us (I only want the en-gb help)
openoffice.org-l10n-en-us, openoffice.org-l10n-en-za (I only need en-gb)
thunderbird-locale-en-gb (I don't use thunderbird)

language-support-writing-en:
iamerican, ibritish (I don't need ispell)
myspell-en-us, myspell-en-za (I only need en-gb)

Both of these are metapackages, so no functionality is lost by removing them. If you choose to remove the openoffice.org packages, then these language-support-* metapackages will be removed as a harmless consequence. It is very possible to remove these packages; just ignore the metapackages being removed. This behaviour is by design, so I am therefore closing this bug. If you disagree with this decision, then please feel free to reopen this report.

My argument is that the ubuntu-meta metapackages recommend packages that are often removed. Thus, it would be useful for the language-support ones to do so as well.
