Thurderbird saves but doesn't think it does and then thinks it didn't send

Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

When I send mail by Thunderbird, it says it is sending, then sending completed, then attempting to save. It continues attempting to save indefinitely until the save procedure is canceled. Yet, the email has been saved and is in the sent folder. But, when I try to close out the email, it says "are you sure - this hasn't been sent yet?" This despite the fact that I did send and the recipient did receive. So, I have to tell it to close without sending despite the fact that everything I wanted it to do has been done. It's very annoying, but I also don't want it to become a bigger problem by suddenly becoming true rather than false.

Does it continue to give this error? Does it occur on different accounts?

I have had this happening to me on a couple of occasions. No pattern that I can remember.

It's not specific to AOL. I was using a courier IMAP email account.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 192947, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
