This strongly suggests a non-standard kernel setup. flash-kernel uses "linux-version list" to determine available kernel versions; if your kernel installation is not listed by "linux-version list", then flash-kernel will fail. Could you confirm if this is still an issue, and whether your kernel version appears in the output of "linux-version list"?

Oh, actually this appears to be a duplicate of 1914712 which has the exact same lines in its DpkgTerminalLog.txt output.
