Bug Description

I have a RoverBook Nautilus NSZ550 notebook and Xubuntu 7.10 installed. The problem is USB 2.0 support is missing without "irqpoll pci=routeirq" added to the boot command line. Without the USB 2.0 support external hard drive and mouse are not working.

Hi Denis,

The Hardy Heron Alpha series is currently under development and contains an updated version of the kernel. It would be helpful if you could test the latest Hardy Alpha release: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you can, please verify if this bug still exists or not and report back your results. We'll keep this report open against the actively developed kernel bug against 2.6.22 this will be closed. Thanks.

Hi, Leann. Unfortunately, latest Hardy Alpha refused to boot from DVD+RW disc which I used to burn it. I don't have any CD-RW discs right now, so it will take time to get one.

I finally tried the upcoming Hardy. It showed the same behavior, my wireless mouse and external hard drive didn't work.

Well, still no sign of improvement from Gutsy. I discovered, that a problem is deeper than I thought: not only USB doesn't work (not at all), the integrated network adapter doesn't work too without extra boot options. It seems to be a problem with a shared IRQ#11 and buggy ACPI.

The problem seems to be fixed in the new 2.6.26 kernel from 8.10 Alpha 2.
Hooray!

Hi Denis,

Thanks for testing and the feedback against the Intrepid kernel. I'm just removing the 'linux-source-2.6.24' task for this bug report since beginning with the Hardy development cycle kernel bug should be reported against the 'linux' kernel source package which this already is. Thanks.

Per a decision made by the Ubuntu Kernel Team, bugs will longer be assigned to the ubuntu-kernel-team in Launchpad as part of the bug triage process. The ubuntu-kernel-team is being unassigned from this bug report. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies for more information. Thanks.
