[Hardy] konqueror opens links in new tab/window instead of logging/putting data in the same tab

I am unable to reproduce this one and I have played with the checking of the tab configs for Konqueror. My links all open in the same window. The "Open in tab instead of new window" only triggers when I click on a link that is set to open in a separate window, and that is the way it is supposed to be.

When a website uses a link such as:

<a href="#" target="_blank">foo</a>

When you click foo, in any browser, the normal behavior would be to open in a new window. But if you have it checked to open in a new tab instead, then it will open in a new tab.

If you are still experiencing this problem, it very well could be a goofy config file that got stuck between updates possibly.

Is this on Gutsy or Hardy and is it still occurring? Thanks!

         First of all its on Hardy & its still occurs

These are the relevant configurations that I have checked on :-

Open Links in new tab instead of new window :- Checked
Open new tab after current tab :- Checked
Confirm when closing windows with multiple tabs :- Checked
Open popups in new tab instead of new window :- Checked
Activate previous used tab when closing the current tab :- Checked
Open as tab in existing konqueror when URL is called externally :- Checked.

Lemme give a use-case scenario which one can try in firefox & konqueror :-
Just click on any message in the inbox, in konqueror it will open in a new tab instead of opening in the same tab. In FF it opens up in the same tab.

I have seen this behaviour in majority of sites & frankly it turns me off.

I just set my settings exactly like yours and I still couldn't reproduce it. Konqueror (KDE 4 Hardy) and Firefox (Hardy FF 3 Beta 3) both responded the same, it opened up the new email in the same window.

If you haven't tried yet, you could see about moving your ~/.kde4/share/config/konquerorrc file else where and seeing if you still have the issue.

Nope, no change. I did as requested but still no change :( I am attaching the konquerrorrc file as well in the hopes we can get some output.

Just to make it explicit, I had made sure to move the konquerorrc file. Now don't know if there is some change in the settings which I've not understood or what. Any help would be appreciated.

there is no ~/.kde4/share/config/filetypesrc file :(

 All and any suggestions are appreciated.

Let's try ~/.kde4/share/config/khtmlrc though I doubt there is anything related in there.

I just hope there's nothing private there.

Could you retry with the KDE 4.1 rc1 packages and see if it's still a problem?

 I'm on Intrepid now so can check there if needed although the package there is downgraded to 4:4.0.98-0ubuntu4 ;)

4.0.98 is the latest package. (It's KDE 4.1 Release Candidate 1) ;)

This new version in Intrepid does put clicks in new tabs instead of new window. So would say the bug is fixed ;)
