Binary package hint: openoffice.org

spell check in OpenOffice word processor is disabled and has no dictionary for any language

So install one... "File->Wizards->Install new dictionaries". Does installing a spell checker for your locale resolve your problem?

add dictionary? i had one when i first got ubuntu i wounder what happen that one :S

btw its still there and its buggy ...turns on and off periodically
