Bug Description

I found this out by accident, because something was pressing on my spacebar when I tried to scroll up and down in Firefox. When the spacebar is pressed, and the mouse is used, say scrolling, or clicking, or rightclicking, when all the keys are released, the spacebar appears to be stuck. None of the modifier keys register as being pressed. Mouse can be used, and the only way to get rid of the problem is to kill X, not through Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, because that doesn't work, but Alt+SysRq+R, Ctrl+Alt+F1, and sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description does not yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available at [WWW] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies. Thanks in advance!

It isn't a kernel bug, that much I can assure you. Here are my reasons:
1. It only happens in X.
2. It only happens when Desktop Effects (Compiz Fusion) is turned on.

As such, posting kernel will be irrelevant and unnecessary in this bug report. I will be subscribing the Ubuntu Desktop Bugs team to this bug again.

Changing affected package from linux to compiz, as it only happens when Compiz is enabled.

If you think this is compiz related could you look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingCompiz and attach the following:

~/.xsession-errors file, /var/log/Xorg.0.log and the output of lspci -vvnn
