Bug Description

Binary package hint: tracker

Ubuntu 8.04 (updates to date) / Tracker 0.6.4

I have 'index and watch home directory' selected, but I wanted to add my music directory to the ignored paths list because Tracker was taking hours to index my music alone (and never finishing because I couldn't remain logged in to Ubuntu long enough for it to finish and it restarted from the beginning each time I logged in - http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=518064).

I added '/home/USER/Music' to Ignored Paths list and hit 'OK' (which gave me bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker/+bug/193600).

Now Tracker is running with the Music folder in ignored paths, but continues to index it (slowly).

I then added '*.flac' and '*.mp3' to ignored file patterns - Tracker continues to index them.

I have tried removing Tracker via Synaptic and deleting ~/.cache/Tracker and ~/.config/Tracker, but no difference.

I tried restarting Trackerd with 'killall -9 trackerd' and 'dbus-launch trackerd', but it did not restart - don't know why - similar reports of this elsewhere.

It seems as though once I logged off and then back on, the ignored folders / files were actually ignored. However, with indexing now complete, Statistics show 'Music: 14715'.
