Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnash

If you open Rhythmbox, play an audio file, then pause or stop it then open Firefox, load a website (Youtube) and play the video the sound does not work.

Sound will not work until Rhythmbox has been closed and firefox restarted.

This doesn't seem to just be Rhythmbox, I've had the same thing happen with Totem etc.

Using Ubuntu Gutsy, Firefox 2.0.0.12, and 0.8.1-0ubuntu3.

Just ask if you need more info.

I noticed exactly same problem with Totem, Epiphany and flashplugin-nonfree. I have Gnash installed but it's not the default in update-alternatives.

Ask for more infos if needed.

same problem with Totem and Flashplugin-nonfree. If I play a video with Totem (or stop or pause it), there is no sound when a flash video plays in Firefox. If I first play a flash video, the sound works, and when I then play a video with Totem, the video in Totem plays very slowly with no sound. I am on Hardy heron.

If you are playing a flash video and than start to play a video in
another app do you hear both or just flash?

John Vivirito : when I play a flash video in Firefox 3 beta 5, I hear the sound of it, but when I play a video in Totem at the same time, the video in Totem has no sound and plays very slowly, so I just hear the flash video

The same happened here. Only that I found out about it another way: Totem played very slowly (1 frame/sec) the videos and had no sound (also music seemed to play especially slowly). Mplayer was either affected, but VLC seemed to play the videos in a normal speed (though no sound came out). Then I found out that if I don't have youtube pages open in firefox, the problem goes away...

I have Hardy Heron in a Toshiba laptop, which has some kind of an Intel integrated sound chip.

I had the same problem on Hardy.
But, I installed 'libflashsupport' and now both YouTube and Totem works simultaneously for me.
Give it a try.
