Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I installed Hardy Heron alpha 5, Firefox wouldnt start. It gives no output at all in terminal, simply fails to execute anything. I also installed latest Swiftfox, same thing - it wont start, no terminal output.

Today I updated to latest packages, including a Firefox update. It still wont start - no terminal output.

Hardy was installed from Alpha 5 image, and first update was today, 20 minutes ago.

Firefox package version is 3.0~b3+nobinonly-0ubuntu4.

Was this a fresh install or upgrade? If it was an upgrade or you copied a profile over from somewhere else can you try the following:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs?action=show&redirect=DebuggingFirefox (Try with a new profile section)

Also, you can try an strace to see where it is hanging exactly. It will help the developers out...

Weird...Now Firefox will start :)
I dont know if it was some update, didnt see any Firefox related ones..Or maybe it was that the machine was shut down and booted up today.
Before making that bug report, I tried to launch Firefox several times, thru terminal, Run app and menu. It gave no output and didnt launch - not even segfault error etc. But today it works fine :/

This was a brand new install, installed for testing purposes, also new user, so no old Firefox configs were there either.
Maybe the new Firefox update actually fixed something but didnt take effect before reboot? Dont know really, but mark this bug as solved/unneeded etc.

Bah, left an error in that comment...
So to recap:
I installed fresh Hardy alpha 5, Firefox would not start.

Installed updates, also Firefox update. Tested - will not start. No output.

Shut down machine, power it up today- test Firefox - it works fine so far.

i got the same thing. fresh install of 8.04 through wubi. firefox initially worked but after instlaling adblock, a theme, and chatzilla and restarting and it wont start anymore even with restart. I'm having to use epiphiny now :( allthough it does have adblock :)

before getting this i was having these wierd things happen in firefox. when going to install an add-on a box would pop up with nothing in it, no bottons no text, just the smallest possible box..and pressing enter would not work. i just had to close it...and could no longer install anything.
