openoffice.org base reports don't print out

Bug Description

I have ubuntu 7.10 gutsy gibbon.

When creating a report on Openoffice.org base, after having created a database and currently working on it, I notice the following:

When I create a report and run it, I get the openoffice.org writer window with it. If I want to print it out, it just won't print out. I tried it in different printers, and it just doesn't print it. BUT, if I copy the text and paste it in a new openoffice.org wirter document, It DOES print it out. So there should be some kind of a problem with the report itself, when it comes to printing out the information that it contains directly from the report itself.

I don't know if this has to do with the openoffice.org project itself, or some kind of bug related with ubuntu.

Regards.

Yes, I have done it several times in the past. I have found the same problem
on different computers with ubuntu 7.10, because I have changed computers a
couple of times lately. I always install it from zero, and the problem
persists with other users (with admin rights or not) and with other
computers.

I found the problem: the bug is on the openoffice suite 2.3.0. You must update it to version 2.3.1. Remove all openoffice package in synaptic, download openoffice 2.3.1 from openoffice.org and install it manually. The update is not on synaptic (I don't know why).

On openoffice 2.3.1 the report of base work on perfectly and... of course, print out!

The OpenOffice 2.3.1 really correct this problem for me. I think new Ubuntu (8.04 Hardy Heron) will take this new version. The Ubuntu 8.04 will come in April.

thebrotherofasis ,

I think there is no problem test it using Virtual Box. But you can do what I did: remove all openoffice package at Synaptic and install openoffice version 2.3.1, if you don't know how do this, ask me. Or wait Ubuntu 8.04.

Salut,

Jamiro

Thank you Jaimiro,

Nevertheless, I think I'll wait till Hardy comes out.

By the way, I finally installed Hardy Alpha6 in Virtual Box, and to my
surprise, It didn't bring openoffice.org base installed by default. I wanted
to check if the problem was already solved there, but I couldn't see base,
only writer, spreadsheet and presentation.

Any of you know why???

Weird,

I will wait till beta 1, to test it then.

I believe that base isn't going to be installed by default on Ubuntu any more to save space on the install CD. However it is still available to be installed you just have to install it via the Add/Remove or Synaptic programs.
