FN-F8 doesn't switch displays on M1330

Bug #196176 reported by Mario Limonciello

Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
New
Undecided
Unassigned

Bug Description

While booted up to X, pressing FN-F8 does not appear to properly switch displays.
Using the command line xrandr utility does however work properly.

Additionally, switching to a VT and then stopping gdm, it still doesn't work. It does work as the boot process begins (before X starts)

Nothing is registered at the end /var/log/acpid

Is this really a duplicate? I don't see anything about the crashing with signal 5 of bug #179444, and on that bug Fn+F8 does switch displays (it just also crashes g-s-d)

Yeah it is. There was no crash log attached to this bug, but there was one
developed that had the same end results.
