Bug Description

Package: gnome-lirc-properties
Architecture: any
Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ${python:Depends}, lirc, policykit-gnome,
 python-gtk2
Description: Control panel to configure remote controls
This control panel updates lirc's configuration files to match your choices.
It also allows editing, uploading and downloading of custom remote control
 configuration files.

We would like to see gnome-lirc-properties to Hardy Heron.

It is a GUI to make it much easier to configure remote controls, using lirc. Some more details are here: http://www.murrayc.com/blog/permalink/2008/02/07/gnome-lirc-properties-a-gui-to-configure-infra-red-remote-controls/

This has been created by Openismus together with the Elisa developers, working together with the Ubuntu Media Center developers, who seem to support the idea.

This tool that has no equivalent and that makes configuring remote controls possible without any command line involved is very important for Ubuntu in our opinion.

We worked together with the MOTU team, to get the Ubuntu packaging into good shape. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/192368 and http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?package=gnome-lirc-properties.

The license is GPL v2 or later. Source code is available as tarball from http://download.gnome.org/sources/gnome-lirc-properties/, and per SVN from https://code.fluendo.com/remotecontrol/trac/browser/trunk.
