Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

In oo writer 2.3 when I hit <space> when the text is near the end of the line, no space appears. The space is "there", but it would be good to see it, by having the cursor move forward or jump to next line, otherwise I don't know for sure it's there and hit space again. A small but annoying glitch.

Look at the 7th line of text in the screenshot. The word "at" actually has about six spaces after it (that's the number of times I hit the space bar), but I can't see them.

I'm not sure about MS Word, but I know this has been standard procedure for a while for OO.o.

It seems like a "feature." It also seems like how other programs treat that situation. I just tried in Mozilla Thunderbird and the same thing happens.

This may in fact be one of those carry-overs from word processing over the years.

More info. It does move the cursor when there is room to show the space character without going out of the margins. When you get to the margin it stops moving and you can no longer tell how many are there. Screenshots attached because in this situation pictures are probably easier.
