That goes away with installation of some gnome lib, have to find out which - but was one of the gnome-devel.

Hi,
I had the exact same problem as wroobel. I tried the new version http://repository.debuntu.org/dists/hardy/multiverse/binary-i386/subtitleeditor_0.21.1-1debuntu1_i386.deb
by using "dpkg -i subtitle..." and "apt-get -f install" and it works.
I had a look at the dependencies and, except for some minor version requirement, they are the same.
I wanted to try the one from intrepid but there are dependencies you cannot satisfy unless you switch
to intrepid.
I am confident it is (or it will be) fixed in intrepid, but for the moment I am going to use the debuntu version.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
