Bug Description

Applies to: Ubuntu 8.04 hardy (development branch) alpha5, kernel 2.6.24-11-generic
Using last update as of 2008-03-04.
_____

I am trying to set read/execute-only permissions for one of my ntfs partitions.

I have edited my fstab entry for this partition to read:

# /dev/hda1
UUID=42901B26901B2049 /media/hda1 ntfs defaults,umask=027,gid=46 0 1

And also tried "chmod g=rx hda1" for the mount point directory in /media.

When I look at the properties-permissions info it says that group "plugdev" (gid=46) should only be able to access files.

using "ls -l" gives "drwxr-x--- 1 root plugdev 8192 2008-03-04 15:30 hda1"

My id output shows me as not being root, but part of plugdev.

But I am still able to create files on hda1, rename files, etc.

I expect to NOT be able to write/remove/rename files.
_____

I recall this as working fine before (on alpha5) but (re-)installing and updating on 2008-03-03 broke it. And it definitely works in Gutsy.

First bug report for me, do tell me if somethings erroneous.
