Bug Description

Binary package hint: bluez-gnome

Crashed when coming back from suspend, which otherwise works, and haven't crashed bluetooth-applet before. Possible difference is that I had browsed a device (a phone) a while before the suspension.

This seems a similar problem to the one I am experiencing in 8.04 Alpha 5; when I plug in a bluetooth dongle the bluetooth applet is started and the icon appears in the notification area, when the dongle is disconnected the applet crashes rather than simply shutting down gracefully.

The patch was committed upstream, so we're likely to see it on Ubuntu eventually.

Could someone try the attached patch if it fixes the issue as I'm unable to reproduce this. Patch applies cleanly with hardy's bluez-gnome 0.23-0ubuntu3.

It could also make sense to upgrade to the newest upstream version (0.25) with FFe as changes have been relatively small, only translation updates and bugfixes - including fix for this issue.

Matti: I can confirm that the attached patch fixes the problem on my Thinkpad X41 (using thinkpad_acpi to enable/disable the built-in bluetooth adapter, which makes it appear/disappear on the USB bus)

I uploaded bluez-gnome 0.25 to my PPA, could someone give it a spin if it fixes this issue? We could still get this fixed for Hardy.

URL for the ppa is:

Matti, I've just tried out the new package from your PPA. I tried the following:

1) Just plugging in and removing bluetooth dongle

2) Plugging in dongle and using Multisync to synchronise Evolution and phone

3) Plugging in dongle, browsing phone memory card, unmounting phone, then removing dongle

4) Plugging in dongle, browsing phone memory card, severing connection by removing dongle without unmounting phone

In all cases the applet closes gracefully, whereas in 3) and 4) with the older package the applet would crash. Also the applet opens again without any issues when the dongle is reinserted.

Thank you!
