Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

The situation

update-manager while update

evolution 2.12.1-0ubuntu1,
evolution-common 2.12.1-0ubuntu1 and
evolution-plugins 2.12.1-0ubuntu1

to

evolution 2.12.1-0ubuntu1.1,
evolution-common 2.12.1-0ubuntu1.1 and
evolution-plugins 2.12.1-0ubuntu1.1

but the packages

evolution-dbgsym
evolution-plugins-dbgsym

are installed.
The update-manger say "he can not make the update he must make a upgrade" (German: Systemaktualisierung). But that fails. The windows (German: Distributions Upgrade) hangs one little step befor the end.

I thing it was my mistake that I have install the dbgsym-packages but I have submit a bug report for evolution and have not removed the packages.

But I thing it is a Bug when the German: Distribution Upgrade hangs without a error message or a chance to stop the process.

I hop you can understand what I mean but my foreigen language is german and my English is very bad.

Thank you for your work

Hallo Grek,

Hi Grek,
thank you for your bug report.
Please attach the files from /var/log/dist-upgrade (main.log, apt.log, term.log). This way we can investigate where exactly the error occurs.
If possible, please execute the following command in a terminal window. The command will output a file name. Please attach that file.

sudo zgrep -l evolution.*2\.12\.1-0ubuntu1\.1 /var/log/apt/*
(This command will search the files in /var/log/apt for the package names and version numbers you mentioned.)

michael@michael-desktop:~$ sudo zgrep -l evolution.*2\.12\.1-0ubuntu1\.1 /var/log/apt/*
[sudo] password for michael:
/var/log/apt/term.log
michael@michael-desktop:~$

There's nothing in your log showing an error. This might be due to debug package not being build at the time of the upgrade. Are you able to reproduce it ?

This bug is from 28 Nov 2007.

So I can not reproduce it.

The only what I can do for you is the Thread http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/distributions-upgrade-haengt/ . But it is in German language and not all Screenshoots are online at this time.

I'm afraid after one year the causals of the bug can not be detected.

(Sorry for my englisch).
