Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Sometimes then I'm starting tvtime Xorg freezes while tvtime still shows black screen. After this sometimes mouse still moves, but nothing else works. alt-sysRq-k,i does nothing. Sometimes i'm able to restart computer with alt-sysRq-b, but not always. Also it seems to happen only with compiz. xorg.0.log.old is filled with such lines:

tossed event which came in late
tossed event which came in late
mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping.

I can't reproduce this crash reliably, however it happens quit often. I don't thing it is possible to fix this using only this info. Is it possible to get backtrace after crash happened?

Well i managed to get some backtrace. See if it helps.

Also crash only happens the first time you lauch some video after fresh boot. If it didn't happen then, then it wont happen until next fresh boot.

I think I have the same bug here. Crashes occur occasionally when I open video files in totem. Mouse still moves, but nothing else. Pretty much the same as the original poster. I'll attach some of my files here in case they help.

Unofficial driver posted for Bug #229128 seems to fix this one for me. It's already about ten reboots and no crashes yet. Will test Intrepid then Alpha 4 comes to light

ogc, can you test with the current intrepid driver (version 2.4.1-1ubuntu6)? I believe the fix that was in the unofficial driver is now in the official one. If you could verify that, we can probably close this bug.

I am using intrepid for several weeks now, and had no crashes. So this seems to be fixed.

[This is an automatic notice.]

We'd like to forward your bug upstream, however upstream requires
that you first test it against their newer driver code.

To save you the effort of building the driver from source, we've built
packages for the driver and its new dependencies.

So you have a couple options:

 1. Download and test .debs for intrepid, from:
     https://edge.launchpad.net/~intel-gfx-testing/+archive

 -or-

 2. Download and test the Jaunty alpha-2 (or newer) Live CD,
(which includes a beta of the new xserver 1.6 as well).
     See http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/9.04/ for ISOs

Thanks ahead of time! You can simply reply to this email to report your
findings.

P.S., if you wish to forward your bug upstream yourself, please follow
these directions to do so:

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
