Bug Description
The init.d script can't be (or I didn't find out how) used to update mpd database.
Here is a patch that I have made to add an update function:

I think also that the dpkg-reconfigure mpd need also to ask which mixer use.

The patch at this url isn't here anymore.
I don't see a reason for the init.d script to update the database.
For the mixer, this is another issue, please create a new bug
