I have this issue too. Very annoying, and I had to position my mouse cursor into a few pixel height input "area" because there is no possibility to resize it ...

Btw, I'm using up-to-date hardy (on 32bit x86) and the "official" pigdin from that distro:

lgb@oxygene:~$ dpkg-query -W pidgin
pidgin 1:2.4.0-1ubuntu1
lgb@oxygene:~$ uname -a
Linux oxygene 2.6.24-12-generic #1 SMP Wed Mar 12 23:01:54 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

Confirming this issue. Input window is two lines high and I haven't been able to resize it yet.

Marking as a duplicate of bug #209553, even though this report is not from a genuine Ubuntu package, since it describes the same issue.

The screenshot attached here makes it clear this is a report of the conversation window being broken, as opposed to an objection to the new auto-resizing. Accordingly, I've fixed the title, removed the duplicate marking, and closing this as Fix Released (since this should be fixed in 2.4.1). If this is not fixed in 2.4.1, then this should be marked back to Confirmed (and a new bug report filed upstream).

status: Confirmed → Fix Released
