Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

The Lenovo "ThinkPad Travel Keyboard - US English" (Part no. 31P9490) does not work with the current synaptics X11 driver/evdev. When running off of the boot cd, both the trackpoint and touchpad work, but only through the "mouse" driver, so none of the special touchpad functionality like scrolling works.

I was able to get it to work by installing the synaptics-usb kernel driver found at the url below, but I thought I should report this anyway and offer my assistance.

http://www.jan-steinhoff.de/linux/synaptics-usb.html (it's 06CB:0009, Synaptics Composite or UltraNav)

Attached are my logs/info/config when the system is setup as described at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad

so the X driver works with it, but kernel doesn't have the appropriate driver for it. Moving to 'linux' then.

There is this Brainstorm ticket for this: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/16430/ and someone in Ubuntu forums seems to have had some success http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=772025

I would *love* to see this running out of the box!
