Bug Description

Since the latest dist-upgrade to Alpha-6 the login-background-picture has been replaced by an actually nice blue screen with a gradient. But exactly this gradient produces Moiré pattern with my LCD sreen (a quite good 1920x1200 Dell-laptop-display). (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moir%C3%A9_pattern for details of Moire-effekt)

Of course, this is a minor bug and might be due to my LDC-Screen, but if this occurs also with other users, a better image should be used. (with another dithering) It's actually quite ugly that way.

So please comment, if you can or can't see that - i.e. if it is a but at all...

I'm using a 1920x1200 display aswell on my thinkpad, what brand of display are you using ? LG-Philips / S-IPS?

I dont see it, but let me contact the author of the image to see if we can get a better version.

after looking up the wallpaper directly unter /usr/share/wallpapers/ I realized that the Moiré-pattern is within the picture. the left side of the picture is full of slightly painted squares. This looks pretty disturbing to me. Do you see that too?

The slightly painted squares is meant to be there..

How do you mean they're disturbing ? :)

But when seeing this picture the first time, I've been pretty disturbed by the squares, thinking that my screen had a problem.

Indeed, the picture is nicely done, but I think it is not the best for a login wallpaper. Why not the default KDE4-Wallpaper "EOS"?
Of course that is highly subjective, so if I'm the only one to feel disturbed by it, there is no problem at all.

Closing, nobody else sees a problem. We don't want to use the KDE 4 wallpaper in KDE 3.
