Unable to start gnome except with failsafe session

Bug Description

Having just copied over dot-files and dot-directories from an old system on to a
new (Breezy Colony 3) system, Gnome will now fail to start except with the
failsafe gnome session. It hangs at the splash screen after the Metacity icon
has been displayed, but before anything else. I can then kill X with C-A-Bksp,
and login with failsafe gnome. Even after saving a session with
gnome-session-save from a successful Failsafe login, the behavior persists.

Thanks for your bug. Is your lo interface correctly configured? Does "ping
127.0.0.1" work? Does moving ~/.gnome2/session somewhere else fix the issue?

out of the way appears to have fixed the problem.

I've attached the offending session file, since even a bad session file
shouldn't cause the desktop to fail to login.

Does this still happen under Ubuntu 6.06 LTS?
