Hello Mitchell, or anyone else affected,

Accepted amazon-ec2-net-utils into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amazon-ec2-net-utils/2.3.0-2~ubuntu0.22.04 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

I'm currently developing a script to test this package from proposed, and for future SRU's. The work is being done here - https://github.com/mitchdz/test-amazon-ec2-net-utils

During the development of this, I have discovered some potential issues with the current package not setting up routes correctly.

Even though this package will be going into Universe, I may ask to reject the upload because I don't want to phase a package that has known issues especially since it hijacks the network configuration.

For now, I'm leaving the package in -proposed while further testing is being done, and will only pass verification if I'm positive the network hijacking will not cause internet loss.

Okay I've confirmed that the current package does have an issue setting up the routing table.

I'd rather not publish a package for the first time in a series with a known issue like this.

I'd like to request revoking the publishing of this pcakage, and am going to work on creating an SRU exception for this package. Once an SRU exception is made, then I'll begin upgrading the version from devel down to here.

This has been put on hold because the current version in the archive has known issues I'd rather not release with.

having this package in Focal/Jammy is still desired, but being put on hold until https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amazon-ec2-net-utils/+bug/2044177 is done, so that way Jammy/Focal can have a package that works properly.
