Not really the same thing. 10054 is a request to automatically update the
fstab. That would be an install issue. This is a request for automounts on the
desktop, a runtime issue. Admittedly, 10054 would probably be a prerequesit to
this request.

Don't we already have automounted filesystems on the desktop? Isn't the behaviour in Edgy Beta satisfactory? Maybe you should specify the wish more clearly.

I couldn't say. I reported this fourteen months ago using breezy. I do not think I have ever tried edgy. I ran into too many show stopper bugs with Ubuntu and gave-up trying to use it.
