Is this still an issue? Is on the Internet menu for me, how did you install it?

Yes, still the issue for me. I've upgraded from 7.10 and got Firefox 3 installed automagically into where it is now, not in "Internet" menu.

I have just tried to remove Firefox altogether to install it back again. After removal, the "firefox" item in menu persisted, and I had to remove it manually. After reinstalling firefox by "sudo aptitude install firefox-gnome-support" there's no Firefox menu entry at all.

Actually, in the newly created account things look allright, so this must be something in my /home directory that's messing things up. I think this bug may be treated as invalid thus.
