Bug Description

Using Live CD with Persistence FireFox extension AdBlock Plus forgets the selected subscription. All the subscriptions are remembered but the selected on is not. Therefore each reboot you must reconfigure AdBlock Plus

6.10; how did you install it there? The Ubuntu package for Adblock Plus is only for Hardy (Ubuntu 8.04).

My bad it is Ubuntu 7.10 not 6.1. I am running it entirely off a 2 gig
flash drive using Persistence. Totally awesome, my WinXP hard drive crashed
4 months ago and because I had this stick I never got around replacing the
crashed hard drive. I have been able to install a lot of software on this
stick. The only real problems is the Ad-Block problem and that Ubuntu does
not remember my time server settings. It remembers my list of servers, but
forgets my time zone.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply.

Have a great day!
Jim

Thanks!

Hi,
Sure, Remember I am using a 2GB USB Flash drive with 2 partitions so that is
behaves like a Live CD with persistence.

I made it with directions from the Ubuntu.com
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveUsbPendrivePersistent
There were some problems with the instructions so if you are going to make
one let me know. The main one that comes to mind is that one partition
should be Fat32 rather than Fat16.

I have FireFox 2.0.0.6. I can't remember if I installed it or that is the
version that came with 7.10. I simply ran FireFox and installed the
extension as normal. I found it on the Mozilla site and clicked install.
That's all nothing special.

The problem I am having is that after every boot I must select Tools->ad
block plus. A window opens up and I slect Filters->add Filter
Subscription. Another window pops up and I can select from a long list of
subscriptions, I usually select the first on EasyList USA. Then I "apply"
everything and all is well.

I have a bunch of extensions installed.
Adblock Plus 0.7.5.3
del.icio.us 1.2.1
Image Zoom 0.3.1
Page Update Checker 0..3.1
Sumbleupon 3.17
Technika 1.5
Tutorial Toolbar 1.0
ubufox 0.4 beta1
Web Developer 1.1.5

I have also installed Flash player so I can watch videos.

About the only thing I can't seem to do is automatic updates. I am
shopping for a 16GB flash stick so I can run a full version of
Ubuntu off the flash stick.

I'm moving this to Adblock Plus and tagging it needs-devrelease-testing. Jim, we can't do anything your problem as you are not using our AdBlock Plus package, but I'll leave this open for now until someone can verify if it happens too with our or not. Thanks.

Can someone please confirm if the same happens with the latest Ubuntu 8.04, the official Firefox 3 and usinh package adblock-plus from the repositories?

Hi,

I thank you for your attention. I apologize that I submitted it to the
wrong group, I think that is the first bug report I have done.

Have a great day
